Yet another delay for 007 First Light
007 First Light was initially set to release on all platforms simultaneously, but things did not go according to plan. Although the game has been out since late May on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows Pc, it is still not available on Nintendo Switch 2. Unfortunately for those who were waiting eagerly, 007 First Light‘s Switch 2 launch date has been pushed back again.
007 First Light‘s Switch 2 release is now expected for March 2027. The Switch 2 isn’t as powerful as other current-gen consoles, but it makes up for it in practicality and its extensive games’ library. Due to its lower performance, more optimization is required to get demanding games running on Switch 2 compared to Xbox and PlayStation. This is why it’s not uncommon for games to be released later on Switch 2.
Mar. 27, 2026 was expected to be 007 First Light‘s release date across all platforms. However, after development delays, the date was changed to May 27. Then, just a month before its supposed launch, the Switch 2 version was delayed to “later this summer.” IO Interactive has repeatedly provided optimistic release dates and gotten ahead of itself when it comes to 007 First Light; this hastiness has resulted in what feels like endless delays and disappointment for eager fans.
007 First Light release delayed to March 2027
Even though 007 First Light made an appearance in the September Nintendo Direct with a 2026 release date, it has now been officially delayed again to next year.
The Switch 2 version of 007 First Light has been shown at Gamescom and it will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show. IO Interactive is taking feedback from players and using it to improve the state of the game. The developers’ goal is to increase 007 First Light‘s performance on Switch 2 to ensure that gamers have the best experience possible on launch day.
For now, 007 First Light is scheduled for March 2027, granted there are no further delays. A specific launch date has not been revealed.
