Sega‘s upcoming PS5 reboot of a long-running racing franchise will take the action to Japan for the first time. The new game will feature a globe-trotting story campaign, alongside arcade modes, and a series-first multiplayer mode as well.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour, the upcoming revival of the series that kicked off in 1999, will have a map set in Japan. It will serve as the second international location for the all-new, high-octane adventure for PS5 players.
“A place beautifully suspended between two worlds. Here, historic neighborhoods and tradition sit alongside the bustling energy of the modern city. Get ready to fall in love with the land of the rising sun,” reads the description for the map’s reveal trailer.
How Japan’s new map expands Crazy Taxi: World Tour’s global adventure
Japan is going to be the third of five maps offered in Crazy Taxi: World Tour’s new single-player World Tour story campaign. It will further extend the racing experience on a global level after a previously announced map set in Germany.
Additional description for the newly revealed Japan map reads, “players can take in the hustle and bustle of a modern city next to historic neighborhoods and burn rubber as they tear through expressways winding between towering skyscrapers. Along the way, players can stop by iconic shops like ICHIRAN, Kani Doraku and SHIBUYA109.”
Crazy Taxi: World Tour will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, alongside Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. In the reboot adventure, players will get to perform insane drifts, catch insane air, and drive at crazy speeds across five different cities.
Their main objective will involve delivering passengers and completing various other missions and challenges.
As for the story campaign, it will require players to recover Axel’s stolen car from a mysterious group of international car thieves in a compelling adventure. Along the way, they will meet some quirky characters, tackle a variety of quests, and navigate diverse terrain.
