Well folks, you made it through another week – well done! It’s felt like a bit of a heavy one, with some world leaders shouting at each other, others hosting absurdly lavish dinner parties, and lots more discourse around AI, as always.
Good job we’ve got games, eh?
This week, rumours surrounding a re-release of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire intensified, Nintendo shared a look at Ocarina of Time‘s overworld map for Switch 2, and the company introduced a new Switch bundle for Europe in an effort to shift a bunch of stock.

With the end of the year fast approaching, this weekend I NEED to stop playing Tears of the Kingdom and get back to Pragmata. I had a great time in the first few hours and need to polish it off and move onto something else, like Future Knight which I still haven’t started.
The kids also saw Pico Park on my home menu and want to try that, so that’ll keep us busy. Have a good one, folks.

Stop the press! I have finally finished Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave! I have so much fun with the game and it’s been so lovely to be able to chat with Jim about it this but I’m SO READY to move on. I’m still very slowly plodding my way through Fire Emblem: Awakening (it’s my weekend coffee game) so it’ll be a long while before I get back onto that.
I’ve been really into playing on my 2DS again, even to the point of caring for some abandoned Nintendogs last weekend so I think I might rummage through the rest of my DS and 3DS games to see what I might play casually.
On a less cosy note, Silent Hill: Townfall released this week so I’ll no doubt be cowering under the covers with my Snorlax plushie in an attempt to face my fears in a digital version of my motherland. I’ve been a huge fan of Silent Hill since the first game (I was way too young) so I’m really excited for this one! I’m still praying for a Switch 2 port of ANY of the games so maybe if I dream hard enough, it’ll happen. Who’s with me?

After saying for weeks that I was going to start Elden Ring, I finally did it this week. I’m still rather early for the time being, and am gradually building up my sorcerer (a new build for me) in Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula before getting started on the main game, but my, what a port!
I have been so very impressed by how the Switch 2 version holds up so far, and you know I’m going to be putting it even more to the test this weekend. Until next time, my fellow Tarnished.

This will be an surprisingly shmup heavy weekend thanks to the releases of Birdcage and Arcade Archives Xevious 3D/G on the eShop. However JRPGs are still very much in fashion with further somewhat irregular progress in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and some more proper effort in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. I still have quite some work to do to wrap up Dietrich’s path (did you notice he is a beautiful man?).
Game of the week is… well, not quite a game. I need to put the finishing touches on my upcoming new music album in order to clear my schedule because by next week I will be playing what will very likely my (non-Nintendo) Game of the Year! I trust most of you will have figured it out before then. 2026 is shaping up to be one of the greatest video game years as far as I can recall and there are still three whole months of game releases to go!

I’ve picked up a Retroid Pocket Classic (the stunning ‘PKMN’ colour), so I’ll be tinkering with that quite a bit this weekend.
I also really fancy going back to Atari 50 again and making my way through the entire timeline. There’s just something immensely satisfying about checking off every image, quote, and video, and I feel like I learn something new every time I go back to it.
