Last month, The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen would be linked with the storage subscription service Pokémon HOME in October 2026.
In an update, it’s now been confirmed maintenance for Pokémon HOME will take place on 7th October 2026. This will coincide with the Switch and mobile apps being updated to Version 4.1.0, adding FireRed and LeafGreen connectivity.
The Pokémon Company: “Pokémon HOME will undergo maintenance starting at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, to support integration with the Nintendo Switch software *Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. All services will be unavailable during the maintenance period, so please understand this in advance.”
This update will allow you to transfer FireRed and LeafGreen to HOME and then bring them to other Pokémon games.
However, as previously noted, once a Pokémon from FireRed or LeafGreen is brought to another game in the Pokémon series, they will be unable to return to these titles. Pokémon from other games in the Pokémon series are also unable to be transferred to FireRed or LeafGreen.
This news about the updated connectivity for Pokémon HOME was previously revealed alongside the news Pokémon Bank on the 3DS would be shutting down in February 2027.
