October’s here, so it’s time to dig out some spooky games, starting with Signalis. If you haven’t played this yet, I implore you to give it a go – especially if you love old-school survival horrors.

I may also run through the demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse a couple more times before the full game launches. I’m really enjoying it so far!

My journey from SEGA’s After Burner to Project Aces’ Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve was decades and generational technology leaps in the making. It is a true privilege to be alive in the year we get both a new(ish) Star Fox a new Ace Combat, with the latter pushing everything about the series forward.

Thankfully it’s a long weekend over here: Despite my three day early access gameplay I’m only half way into the single player campaign. From gameplay to audio and visual, everything is dialled to 11 but the deep characters and incredible plot is keeping my hooked. It was a six year gap between entries, but my GOTY 2026 has been confirmed! And to think a new(ish) Zelda is still on the way before the year turns…

Sadly the perfectionist in me will keep me from spending three whole days playing the game because I still need to put more finishing touches on my upcoming music album. I am also pretending I did not pick up Dune: Awakening on sale. The less said about the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave neglect this weekend, the better. This will be a strangely non-Nintendo focused weekend, but I have a gut feeling both Ace Combat 8 and DUNE might be Switch 2 bound in the near future anyway… hey, let me dream!

Cosy Spooky Season is finally upon us so I’ve shifted my personal backlog a bit to reflect that. Aside from the games I have for work (coming soon!) I’ve still got a list of personal games to work through. Last week I started Silent Hill: Townfall on the PS5 so as an islander myself, I’ll be right at home in that.

I’ve jumped aboard the cleaning/organising cosy trend and been playing Wand & Order: Tidy up the magic shop! on my ROG Ally along with other cleaning up games. As for my Switch 2 (aside from the previously mentioned tbc work games) I will no doubt find some time to jump back in Pokopia ahead of the Halloween event, try to survive in Valheim and spend a coffee session in town with Little Friends: Dogs & Cats. Generally “spoopy” all around!

Those are our plans, but what about yours? Let us know what you’ll be slapping in your Switch (2) in the poll below.
