Don’t expect Rust 2 anytime soon. Do expect to pay more for YouTube Premium. Also beloved spy fish James Pond might not be long for this world if the James Bond rights holders have anything to say about it.

It’s your Morning Checkpoint for April 10, 2026. Metallic Terminator Skippy Peanut Butter recently breached my timeline, and like everyone else, I had to do a double-take on whether it was AI slop or the ’90s really were just an insane period of consumer decadence.

YouTube is reportedly raising the price of premium for most subscribers by $2

That’s according to emails some subscribers have started receiving and sharing on Reddit. The Light subscription will go from $8 a month to $9 a month. Premium will go from $14 to $16 a month. Even the family plan is going up from $23 a month to $27.

These price hikes are occurring at a time when YouTube is reportedly dominating the streaming wars and loading up its videos with more commercials than ever. The internet in 2026 is great.

Studio founder says to ignore viral Rust 2 Steam listing

Fans have been buzzing about a mysterious new Steam page for “Rust 2” that many are hoping is either a full sequel to the hit survival MMO or a new version of the existing game remade in a different engine. Facepunch founder Garry Newman is telling people to ignore it.

“Nope. We’re not making Rust 2,” he said in a statement to PC Gamer, adding that he had “no idea at all” what the mysterious Rust 2 listing was all about or who was behind it.

Guardians of the Galaxy is probably headed to Switch 2

A new rating for the port was spotted on the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee board by Gematsu. Eidos Montreal, the studio behind the surprisingly good 2021 action shooter, has been struggling lately.

James Bond and James Pond are fighting.

The World Trademark Review details an ongoing fight between the owners of ’90s UK gaming spoof, James Pond, and the rights owners of the movie spy icon (via Time Extension). “James Pond is a longstanding, well-established and widely recognized video game property dating back to the early 1990s, with its own distinct identity, history and audience in the games market,” writes current owner System 3 as it files a new application for the character. Danjaq, which owns the James Bond trademark, is fighting the filing.

Beware those malicious Steam Workshop mods.

Hit survival game Project Zomboid has banned the recent source of mods that were injecting viruses into players’ files. Somewhere between 500 and 2200 devices were found generating “malicious files outside of the Project Zomboid directory.”
