Well Dweller was first unveiled during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase on August 7, 2025. The game is an original, hand-drawn dark fairy-tale adventure set in a haunting storybook world. It invites players into a bizarre, twisted mythical queendom with charming characters.
According to the Metroidvania adventure game description, gamers must take on the role of Glimmer, a tiny bird armed with a matchstick. His goal is to burn the wicked queen of the kingdom to save his family before they become part of her royal gown.
Throughout his journey, players must explore a whimsical yet morbid fairy-tale landscape through Glimmer and battle terrifying beasts to gain new abilities that expand the world. These abilities also help gamers uncover secrets, mysteries, and the riddles lying within the queendom.
Along the journey, players can interact with other characters and allies while collecting powerful trinkets from dark nooks and crannies, which are keys to survival. Ultimately, gamers must help Glimmer reunite with his sheltered siblings, who were snatched from the nest one night, an event that led to the rise of the unlikely little hero.
