Are you ready for FF14 Evercold? The next chapter in the saga of Square Enix’s critically acclaimed MMORPG kicks off in January, and the time to prepare is right now. That means catching up on the final parts of the post-Dawntrail MSQ, tidying up your inventory, sorting out your glamours for the new expansion, and ensuring the jobs you want are at the level cap. It also means picking the mount to carry you into the future, and there’s no better choice than the iconic FF15 Regalia, which has just returned for a very limited time only.
Chocobos aside, it’s tough to pick the most iconic mount in all of Final Fantasy 14, but the Regalia Type-G has to be a contender, which is impressive when you consider its extremely limited availability. The signature FF15 car of Noctis and his pals, it’s one of the very few free mounts that supports multiple players at once, allowing up to four of your party to sit in it as you ferry the group around. It’s also just great to look at, with its Batmobile-adjacent body kit transforming into a winged version when you take to the skies.
This is only the fourth time that the Regalia has ever been available in FF14 – the crossover event, A Nocturne for Heroes, first ran in April 2019, and has since come back in 2021 and 2024. That means now is likely to be the only chance you’ll have to grab the limited-time mount if you want to use it during the Evercold era, as it probably won’t return again until the upcoming expansion is in its very final stages. While you’re there, you can get your hands on the Noctis outfit and haircut, a Triple Triad card, and a selection of Orchestrion Rolls.
The crossover has just begun, and runs for less than three weeks. It’s also a little more demanding than the average FF14 event – you’ll need to have a level 50 job and have completed the base-game story quests. That is feasible if you’re just starting now, although you’ll have to consider whether you want to rush your journey along to secure the mount. The quest path begins with Kipih Jakkya in Ul’dah, Steps of Nald, just to the right as you come out of the main Aetheryte plaza at x:8.5, y:9.7 on the map.
Once you’ve finished it, you’ll need to head to the Gold Saucer and find the Ironworks Vendor in the main lobby area to grab your Regalia Type-G mount. This will set you back 200,000 MGP, the unique currency for the Gold Saucer. If you’re a regular player, you’ll probably have this already, but if not, there are some reliable sources to get it, including daily Mini Cactpots and the weekly Fashion Report, so you shouldn’t have much trouble. I’d also recommend grabbing the weekly bonuses from Lord of Verminion if you’re struggling.
Final Fantasy 14’s A Nocturne for Heroes event is running from Thursday, September 24 at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am BST / 10am CEST to Tuesday, October 13 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST. If you’ve already completed the quest in past years, it’s identical to before, although you can replay it if you wish. If you previously got partway through, check the special site to see where you can pick the rest back up.
