Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is already a year old – where has the time gone? Though the news cycle has only gotten more bizarre and doom-filled, Sandfall Interactive’s multi-award-winning RPG has certainly helped keep my sanity in check. It’s a ceremonious occasion, not only because Gustave and Co. have completed a full trip around the sun, but also because Expedition 33 has hit a huge sales milestone. To mark the date, Sandfall’s put out “a fun little update” that brings some slick new hairstyles to the game’s leading cast.
Speaking on the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 anniversary, Sandfall says “this past year has been an incredible journey.” What’s more, the studio is “so thrilled, and honestly still quite overwhelmed” to reveal that over eight million of you have embarked on the journey to defeat The Paintress. It’s an incredible feat, especially for a small studio, so kudos to the team for holding fast on its vision and delivering one of the finest stories in modern gaming.
In today’s update, Sandfall has offered up a suite of anniversary haircuts, so you can ensure the gang are looking their best. Gustave’s trim can be picked up at the Gestral Merchant near Stone Wave Cliffs, while Verso, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, and Monaco’s ‘dos can be snagged from the merchant near Grosse Tête.
Elsewhere in the full patch notes, a few smaller bugs have been fixed up. These include “an issue where Danseuse outfit for Lune and Sciel made the character menu too obscur, an issue where it was not possible to open a rest point in various locations when an in-world dialogue was playing,” and some collision foibles.
If you’ve been tempted to join the hordes of cosplayers donning berets and Breton stripes, then you can now pick up official versions of them. The characters in-game look great, you’ll look fabulous, it’s a win-win all round. If you’ve been trying to persuade your pals to play Expedition 33, then make sure you point them to the 20% off Steam sale that’s on for it right now. Who knows? Maybe you’ll end up with a full complement of expeditioners at your next convention.
