Though not considered a live-service game, Crimson Desert has received a steady stream of content updates since its March launch, such as April’s patch that added new pets and more storage and May’s patch that included a whole new minigame. On Tuesday, developer Pearl Abyss outlined what Crimson Desert‘s 5 million players can expect to be added to the game over the next few months.

The studio also confirmed it’s developing DLC for the game, though Pearl Abyss didn’t offer much information about it.

“We are also hard at work on an upcoming DLC for Crimson Desert, and while we cannot share the details just yet, we are preparing it as a meaningful addition to your journey. We will share more details in the future, so stay tuned,” the studio said in a news release.

As for what’s coming in content updates from June to September, Pearl Abyss mentions story improvements up top. Crimson Desert‘s narrative, characters, and dialogue have all been pinpointed as weak points of the sprawling RPG, and it seems like Pearl Abyss is taking that criticism to heart.

“To further strengthen the narrative flow of Kliff’s journey and to make it more engaging, we are working to refine and improve the coherence of key scenes. We hope these improvements will offer something new even for those who have already experienced Pywel,” the studio said.

Future updates will also include “a new combat-focused content,” though the studio didn’t share any details as to what that content will be. Cross-save will be added, so players can share their saves across platforms. Re-Blockade will receive a new phase, Damiane and Oongka’s gameplay will be adjusted and improved, and general quality-of-life improvements will be added. As all these features are in active development, Pearl Abyss notes they’re subject to change. No release date was given for the next major update.

Pearl Abyss launched Crimson Desert in March after hype for it swelled in the months leading up to its release. Players have taken to it (Crimson Desert has about 57,000 “Very Positive” player reviews on Steam), while critics have been somewhat unimpressed. “After hours of disappointments, I’m tired of waiting for the fun to start. To me, an all right character system and occasionally challenging boss battles aren’t enough to make Crimson Desert worth playing,” Polygon wrote in its impressions of the game’s early hours. Its critical reception hasn’t prevented Crimson Desert from staying in the Game of the Year race, however.
