Dubbed “anime GTA,” a promising PS5 open-world action RPG has finally received its long-awaited release date. Developed by Naked Rain and published by NetEase, Ananta will launch early next year and will be console exclusive to the PS5. The game will also be available on PC and smartphones.
PS5 RPG Ananta will launch in January 2027 for free
Ananta will launch on January 15, 2027 as a free-to-play title. Set in a modern urban world, the game’s themes are influenced by social media culture that encourages people to go viral, become influencers, etc.
“Ananta is built around a central premise: Go Viral. Save the World,” an official overview reads. “At its core is a gameplay system driven by social influence and the pursuit of attention. Players take on an identity that is entirely of this era: the influencer. In a modern city governed by algorithms and online culture, players engage with the urban world through the lens of a content creator — an experience unlike anything seen in the urban game genre.”

Ananta will allow players to adopt various roles, including hacker, delivery rider, and content creator. Each role will offer unique interactions with the city.
“Visit cinemas, mahjong parlors, arcades, cat cafés, maid cafés, gyms, restaurants, clothing stores, open-air hot springs, and more,” says Naked Rain.
