While GTA VI is still a few short months away, the modders of GTA V are still hard at work, especially WTTDOTM who just released a mod that adds a bunch of Flock cameras to Los Santos. According to a video showing off the mod (via FRVR), the cameras work exactly as they do in real life.

“As players drive through the map, they are subjected to seemingly inescapable surveillance, with pictures taken of them every time they enter a new camera’s field of view,” the description reads. “Representing Flock’s own history of inaccurate reporting, every time a player passes through a camera’s field of view, the mod creates a 1 in 20 chance that the [camera] will trigger a police chase without any cause.”

But WTTDOTM didn’t create the Grand Theft Automated License Plate Reader mod to add yet another layer of grim verisimilitude; he wants players to destroy the little bastards. The video showcasing the mod is just a montage of the cameras being smashed to bits with cars, rocket launchers, tanks, and more. The destruction is gamified as players can use the cameras to capture stunts and can pick up the components of destroyed cameras for some quick cash, and the mod has a speedrun mode that keeps track of how fast you can tear the cameras down.

The mod adds 235 cameras scattered all over the city. In a TikTok video talking about the mod, WTTDOTM said, “Flock is a scourge on America…If you think the 235 in this mod are bad, just understand that that is one-tenth of the cameras currently installed in LA County, which Los Santos is based on.”
