Fighting in the daytime, you would be forgiven for thinking that Coen is a lot less dangerous; after all, he doesn’t have claws, he can’t teleport, and he can’t drain his enemies in an instant. While you’ll have to rely on your swordsmanship and witchcraft, you can still take on the toughest opponents as a human, especially with the Font of Life perk.
There are several rewards to choose from when you go for the Font of Life perk, and if you choose the wrong one, then you’ll be locked out of this powerful regenerative tool for the rest of your playthrough, so be careful. Here’s how to unlock The Blood of Dawnwalker Font of Life perk.
Unlocking the Font of Life perk
The Font of Life perk grants Coen passive health regeneration in the daytime – this not only allows you to sustain better in longer fights, but it also cuts down on the amount of consumables you need to carry around with you. To unlock the Font of Life, you must complete the quests Where Old Devils Lie and Stronger Than Achilles.
This is basically a two-part quest, and it can be activated after you complete the convent questline with Anca. It involves a lot of investigation and some combat, with a little bit of touching pillars for good measure.
At the end of the Stronger Than Achilles mission, you’re given a choice. You can take the Font for yourself, give the Font to Anca, or destroy the Font. Each of these options has different outcomes:
- Take the Font: Gain the Font of Life perk
- Give the Font to Anca: Nothing
- Destroy the Font: Gain the Ancient Greaves
You already get a legendary light chestpiece for completing this mission – Runic Enchantment – but if you’re angling for a full legendary set early on and aren’t fussed about the Font of Life perk, you can opt to destroy the Font for the Ancient Greaves. I think the perk is better, however.
