Intel leak suggests Q1 2027 release for its next generation of gaming CPUs

Leaks have been coming through thick and fast for Intel’s upcoming lineup of Nova Lake-S processors, including last month’s alleged benchmarks of a high-end chip which indicates it will comfortably outperform many of Intel’s current Arrow Lake-S processors. Now, we’ve had yet more information appear online from third party sources, which suggest a release window for the new processors, along with a roadmap for desktop chips even further into the future.

The snapshot from the presentation, posted by wxnod on X, suggests the manufacturer is on track for a retail release of the Nova Lake-S lineup in the first quarter of 2027, with production of the chips themselves starting later this year. This nearby launch does somewhat line up with what an Intel manager confirmed in August, in that consumer chips would be prioritised ahead of server applications for the Nova Lake generation.

It also confirms that Intel will switch to a new LGA 1954 socket type for its Nova Lake-S processors, which means you’ll also be needing to grab yourself a new motherboard if you’re looking to upgrade. However, the snapshot also suggests that these 900-series motherboards with the LGA 1954 socket will also support future ‘Razor Lake’ and ‘Hammer Lake’ CPU generations – which, the slide suggests, could arrive from late 2027 onwards.

The slide also mentions the implementation of a ‘bLLC’ cache, with a capacity of up to 288MB. It directly compares this to AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology which we’ve seen on some of its Ryzen chips, and just like those processors from team red, the much larger L3 cache could bring significantly improved gaming performance – particularly in CPU-heavy titles.

We’re still waiting for more official information on the computing performance that the Nova Lake-S generation will offer, but if this leak holds true and we are indeed on track for a Q1 2027 retail release, expect to hear more details on these chips from Intel very soon.
