A brand new PlayStation 5 exclusive shooter out next week has gotten some stellar reviews, placing it firmly in the Game of the Year race.

Saros, the latest game from Returnal developer Housemarque, is set to release on April 30, 2026, and has gotten some amazing reviews ahead of its launch. The game currently sits at a 89 rating on OpenCritic, with 95% of critics recommending the game.
Eurogamer’s Rick Lane praised the game’s mechanics, but said the narrative “often feels at odds with the kind of experience it wants to be, but there’s no denying this is another top-tier action game from Housemarque.” GameSpot’s Richard Wakeling also praised the game, noting “Saros is a phenomenal game that flips Housemarque’s roguelite formula on its head and improves upon its spiritual predecessor in every conceivable way.”
CGMagazine’s Zubi Khan said the game “expands on the formula to new heights, introducing an entire ensemble cast of characters that push the narrative further as players unravel the mystery on a new alien planet, Carcosa.” And ComingSoon’s Tyler Treese praised the game, saying “Housemarque has once again made one of the best-playing PS5 games and a shooter that handles wonderfully as you find upgrades and create a build to take on difficult bosses.”
