As of writing, I have invested a total of 267 hours into Slay the Spire 2. I’ve tried every beta patch, and I’ve almost played it at least once every single day since it released on Steam back on March 5. That’s why I feel pretty confident in saying that Slay the Spire 2 is, and always has been, a phenomenal game, and a worthy successor to the first Slay the Spire.
However, if you were to turn off filtering for non-English languages and also include all of the “off-topic” reviews, the overall review score on Steam paints a very different picture. For instance, with filtering on, Slay the Spire 2 has a 94 percent “Very Positive” score on my end. With filtering off, it’s instead sitting at a 56 percent “Mixed” score.
If you’ve been following the drama surrounding Slay the Spire 2 over the last 11-ish weeks since it released, you likely already know why this is the case; the game has been review-bombed three separate times. The first one was due to the Doormaker Act 3 boss getting buffed, the second was due to the Doormaker not getting nerfed, and the third one was due to chuds getting mad because Anita Sarkeesian’s name was spotted in the game’s credits.
Ok, but, considering the Doormaker is no longer in the game, and the opinions of unlovable basement-dwelling chuds are worthless, do the majority of reviewers on Steam seem to love the game if you ignore all of the negative reviews that stemmed from the review bombing? Yeah, seems to be universally loved–although a few people still think the game is too hard. If only someone had written some kind of guide that could help them with that…
“Slay the Spire 2 is a game that presents a platter of eggs and says ‘You have to eat all the eggs’”

“People who are review bombing have never pleasured a woman.”

“They took the game and they made it 2-er.”

“Slay the Spire 2 is like when I had my second child.”

“I don’t mean to get political but…”

“Start run. Get good cards. Feel unstoppable…”

“This game is worse than cocaine and fent.”

“Started playing on Friday night, hyperfocused like crazy…”

“The sex scenes were unnecessary but…”

“The Map: Mostly used to draw genitals.”

“Doormaker is too weak…”

“As someone with single digit braincells…”

“Fix pls. I have work tomorrow.”

“GIANT ROCK+”
