A gorgeous PlayStation 5 racing game will soon receive its biggest free update in years, with new tracks, cars, and more. Coming from Polyphony Digital, the title was originally launched four years ago.
Gran Turismo 7 will get the free Spec IV update containing various perks for PS5 players. It will arrive next year before the 30th anniversary of the original release of Gran Turismo.
Given the sheer size of the free update, Gran Turismo 7 players will receive it in two parts, with the first arriving in October and the second in December 2026.
New tracks, Family Mode & more features arrive across two-part update
Gran Turismo 7 will add new tracks, a unique Family Mode, and new cars across the two-part Spec IV update. The first circuit, Sportsland SUGO in Japan, will be available in October. It’s known for its elevation changes, flowing layout, and the familiar Dunlop bridge.
The next circuit, Autumn Ring, will arrive in December. This one is deeply connected to the history of Gran Turismo as its first appearance dates back to the original title from 1997.
For cars, 12 new models will be added to the game across both Spec IV updates. No details have been confirmed yet regarding the cars themselves, according to the official blog.
New game features include Online Drift Trials, bringing drivers together to test their control, precision, and style. There’s also Shuffle Races, offering randomised conditions for online races, encouraging players to adapt to new strategies to win.
Players will also get new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, new progression elements, and a Concierge feature for car buying.
In December, Gran Turismo 7 will also add the Family Mode. It will basically make the game more accessible and enjoyable when playing with family and friends. It’s designed as a welcoming starting point for players with different levels of driving experience.
More details on Family Mode will be revealed during the Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3, 2026.
